warm weather

We have been spending all our free time outside enjoying this summer-like weather. I have even been dragging the highchair outside to eat meals out there, the clean up is so much easier when Rowan decided to throw his food off his tray (something we are still working on). He doesn't quite get discipline yet and laughs when I say 'no' in a stern voice...I'm in trouble I think. Here are a few from our time today. I feel like he is looking more and more like a kid and less like a baby every day, makes me a little sad.

I love this one...he looks like he is having a serious conversation with his toys.

Visit with the Haydens

Josh's mom was finally able to make it down for a trip to see Rowan. They spent 5 days here and she and Rowan reunited and became fast friends.
Check out that soccer hat

And one with Granny who also came out to visit...

Playing in the curtains

Rowan loves the window behind our couch in the living room. He loves to watch the birds that gather on the ground and play with the curtain. They came out pretty grainy, I kind of like the effect but am not sure why it happened....photography people, tell me what I did wrong.

Happy Easter!

Getting Rowan to keep these on his head was quite the ordeal. He has just recently figured out that he can take off things I put on his head, and that is what he did, over and over and over again. I know one day he will hate that I did this to him, but it will give him something to talk about in therapy :) We hope you have a wonderful day! Happy Easter!

This one cracks me up...he is so mad at those bunny ears!

10 months old!

Rowan is 10 months old, has 6 teeth and is talking non-stop! He has really found his voice and spends most of the day squealing with delight, frustration or just general conversation. He babbles ma ma, da da, and something that sounds a lot like 'cat'. He hasn't given Josh and I names yet, but will look at the correct person when asked "where's Daddy or Mommy?" He loves being outside and we spend most of our time there when the weather is nice. He isn't crawling yet, but does a lot of rolling one way or the other. He is a little over 17 lbs and has changed so much, he is looking less baby every day. It is hard to believe we are getting ready to celebrate his 1st birthday soon!

Spending some time outside

With spring here and the weather changing every day, we try to spend as much time outside as we can. Here are some shots from a few different days, outside enjoying the weather. Josh is always great at entertaining Rowan and getting him to laugh.

Rowan has a habit of reaching up and gently touching your face when you talk to him, it is so dear. I want to bottle it and hold on to it to remember when he is a teenager and telling me he hates me.
Josh was running Rowan around the yard in circles, making them both laugh hysterically.

Shoes

Rowan and my dad have matching Converse hi-tops, each were given a pair as a gift at different times. I thought it might be a neat shot to see the two shoes together. A feeble attempt at some still life art.

The Final Four

The final four begins today, and anyone who knows me (Josh), knows that I am a big North Carolina Tarheels men's basketball fan. When I was in 3rd grade I played on a basketball team called the Tarheels, and that year I had a really great time and was defensive player of the year. It meant a lot to me, so I asked my dad if the Tarheels were a real team (I had already liked the Lakers at that point in direct opposition to my dad's favorite Celtics) and he told me that they were in fact a real team, but that they were a college team, not a pro team like I usually watched. Pops also told me that the Tarheels had a really good coach, Dean Smith, and that one of my favorite Laker players James Worthy also had played for the Tarheels. (Believe it or not, Micheal Jordan being a Tarheel was not a selling point at the time, since his Bulls and my Lakers were rivals.) So I started watching the Tarheels and even though they had some rough years for a while, it is really fun to see them play in back to back Final Fours. Let's just hope that the outcome is a lot better than their blowout loss to eventual champions Kansas last year.

So with all that said, thanks to his auntie Lashelle and his uncle John who gave Rowan this awesome shirt as gift before he entered the world, I thought I'd share with you a couple of pics from Rowan sporting Tarheel blue and practicing his game faces.

The "Hey, glad you are here to watch the game" face:
The "Oh man this is close" face:
The "Did you just see that!" face:
The "focus wins championships" face:
The "We just won" face:
And the "I'm just to cute, you better keep taking pictures of me" face:

So on behalf of Rowan and I, we wanted to say Go Tarheels!
