Budding photographer

Rowan is getting more and more difficult to take pictures of because he is simply too busy with his life to stop and smile...that and he is obsessed with the camera himself. He is really starting to be at the age where he wants to imitate everything and yesterday was no exception. When he finally wrestled the camera out of my hands he closed one eye and held the camera up to his nose and pretended to take pictures. It might have been one of the cutest things ever. I wish I had another camera to take a picture of him.
Here he is literally climbing on top of me to get to the camera...
One of his many shots...he loves pushing the button and then seeing the image appear on the screen. Maybe one day his can work for his Aunties Kristen or Lashelle as a photography assistant.

Sidewalk chalk

I have been trying to introduce Rowan to art. He loves to draw and pretend write so I thought he would like to give sidewalk chalk a try. We both ended up covered in it, but had a good time. If you notice the shirt he is in you will know who is responsible for dressing him that day. It's a JMU soccer shirt...it was one of the few things we got for him before he was born on a visit to Harrisonburg. I remember looking at it and thinking he was never going to fit in to it.

His first few scribbles...
Working hard
Covered in chalk he decides he has had enough and takes off crawling on the concrete. I don't know how his knees can take it!

On the phone

Rowan has been obsessed with the phone for months, but has recently started actually pretending to make calls. He even says 'hello'...which kind of sounds like Scooby Doo. He also pretend talks in this really deep voice.

His reaction when I finally took the phone away.

New Game

Rowan loves when Josh tosses him in the air, it is his new favorite game.

Glasses

Rowan really wanted to try on my mom's reading glasses. At least we know he will be cute if he ever needs to wear glasses!

Rowan's new house

So after negotiating prices and extras for days...we finally settled on an offer and are really excited about our new home. It is on Boundary Lane in old town Warrenton, has about a 1/2 acre of land and will hopefully be built in time for us to celebrate Christmas in the new space. It will have a yard and give us some space to grow in to. It isn't huge, but I think fits us perfectly at this stage in our lives. It does have an unfinished basement which we plan on finishing pretty quickly for an extra guest bedroom and play room. We also added several windows and made a few other minor changes to the floor plan. We will post real pictures as the process unfolds, but here is a rendering and floor plans to give you an idea of what it will look like!

Trying to stand

Rowan really wants to walk and just can't figure out how to put it all together. Lately he has been trying to stand up without holding on to anything and the result looks a lot like Mogli from the Jungle Book or the yoga position downward dog. He will even take a few steps on his hands and feet, it makes me laugh every time.
