Art and Vulnerability

For me art is incredibly personal and vulnerable. It has taken me years, literally, to display any of my own art in my home. And even now it is only allowed upstairs. So it was completely uncharacteristic of me to take on a commissioned piece. Because if I am honest about it, I just can't imagine any one paying me for my stuff. But some sweet friend of a friend took pity on me and asked for a painting. So here you go...the quote was chosen by the recipient and the peacock was my idea because...why not. The lighting is terrible, but you get the idea.

Ummm, may I commission you for a piece?? Shey, it truly is so beautiful - it is reminiscent to me of one of my favorite Mississippi artists, Walter Inglis Anderson. Thank you for posting and sharing your artwork! Truly!
