Eli is 7 months old

This post is a bit overdue. Eli is now 7 months old, has one tooth and is working on a second. He is sitting up really well, you can actually walk away from him and trust that he will still be sitting up when you return. I know I say this every month, but he is the happiest little guy ever. He lights up when he sees you and squeals with delight if you talk or play a game of peek-a-boo with him. He LOVES his big brother and watches his every move. My most favorite thing that he does right now though is at any given moment when you are holding him he wraps his arms around your neck and gives you the biggest (and slobbery) kiss, usually right on the mouth. Then he squeals and smiles and buries his head in your shoulder. I love it. And I know that it is fleeting and try to permanently imprint it in my memory every time he does it.

love those big brown eyes!
Hard at work.

We had a ridiculously unseasonably warm few days last week so we took advantage of the weather and our deck and played outside. It was glorious and gives me hope that spring is not too far away.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Rowan is really in to Curious George right now and was super excited to get one for Valentine's Day.
For Valentine's Day, Eli got his first tooth! I am so sad to see that little toothless grin go.

Real Haircut

I have been cutting Rowan's hair since he was 3 months old. But yesterday was his first time going with Josh to get a real haircut from a professional, clippers and all. He did great! I was so proud of him because it could have been a nightmare, but he happily sat there and let the lady cut away. He was also pleased to get a slurpee as a reward. He is kind of impossible to take pictures of these days because he literally won't sit still long enough for me to focus the camera. So these were the best I got.

He looks so Hayden in the picture it is kind of crazy to me.
pretending to be a pirate with the lens cap, "ARRRRR"
A rare moment of being nice to his little brother and actually coming over to play with him. I shouldn't say "rare" but a little less common than I hope it will be.

Cute Jammies

These jammies are just too cute not to share. And Eli is pretty cute too :) Eli had his 6 month appointment on Monday. He weighed in at 17 lbs and 27 inches.

6 month review

Eli's half birthday

I have no idea how 6 months have gone by. Truly, I feel like I have blinked and here we are. I take Eli for his checkup on Monday so I will have to report back with his stats, but one thing is for sure, he is getting big! He can sit up by himself now (with a little support), he is ridiculously happy most all of the time and is such a cute little guy.

His new trick. He has recently discovered he can smack his lips and make a sound and thinks it is the best thing in the world.

Art and Vulnerability

For me art is incredibly personal and vulnerable. It has taken me years, literally, to display any of my own art in my home. And even now it is only allowed upstairs. So it was completely uncharacteristic of me to take on a commissioned piece. Because if I am honest about it, I just can't imagine any one paying me for my stuff. But some sweet friend of a friend took pity on me and asked for a painting. So here you go...the quote was chosen by the recipient and the peacock was my idea because...why not. The lighting is terrible, but you get the idea.
