Here is a picture of Rowan at bath time around 3.5-4 weeks old...
And here he is from last night (just shy of 7 weeks)
He is really filling out! I feel like I see changes in him every day. He has also grown like 2 inches! Josh and I don't know who this tall lanky kid belongs to.

Cutest baby ever...
Our little guy is getting big! We took him to the Doctor on Friday because of an eye infection (how he got that since he hasn't been anywhere is baffling) and he weighed in at 7lbs 9 oz! He gained a pound in 10 days...I guess I can stop worrying about his feeding and be confident he is getting enough.
I thought I would share a few photos we have taken here and there over the last week.

tummy time and a little hokie and Kristen Gardner rules!
So the little man put on his first baseball cap, and has been livin' la vida loca on his belly. I tried to upload a video of him on his stomach that doesn't do justice to just how much he wiggles, moves, kicks, and picks up his head when he's on his tummy, but it isn't loading for some reason, so stay tuned. We also just loved this picture of him with a VT hat that Shey gave me sometime in college. Because of my Ricky Martin reference above, Shey wanted me also to make clear that I wrote this post, not her. To Gram and Granny who are checking this blog every hour for new stuff, I hope you enjoy the new pics and video. And even more importantly...Kristen Gardner has put up some pics of her photo shoot with us and Rowan last week, and the pictures are awesome! Check out her blog for some of the pictures, we couldn't be happier with them!

1 month old
I can't believe Rowan is already a month old. I can't believe 5 weeks ago I went to the hospital for back pain and now we have this little guy. We just passed his due date this week and it was such an odd feeling. He may not have ever made it until the 6th, but it was a little weird to imagine or ponder what our experience might have been like had I not had this infection and he was able to come on time. This last month has been tough, but he is a wonderful baby who honestly has been so easy on us. He almost never fusses, sleeps well, is now eating well and is just generally so laid back. We went to the doctor today for his 1 month check up and things went great. He has gained weight (10 oz) since our last visit and is up above his birth weight now at 6lbs 8oz. We do need to repeat some blood tests since he had a transfusion and was on some antibiotics (both can skew the results). But hopefully that will be taken care of in the next week and all of this will be behind him.
I am doing better. Each day brings a little more healing. I am moving a little faster and with a little less pain. Still having trouble caring for Rowan, but hopefully soon enough I can be trusted with him by myself. Josh has gone back to work and while his schedule is very flexible allowing him to work a lot from home, my parents have had to help a lot when he needs to be out of the house.
I thought I would post a few pics of Rowan and I, since we have almost none together, and one of the three of us. The monkey was a special gift from Rowan's favorite Auntie Em. Since it is bigger than he is right now I figured it would be fun to see him grow in comparison to what I hope will be his favorite companion as he get older.

Visit with family
Josh's parents were able to squeeze in a visit with us late last week. They met Rowan in the hospital but it was nice for them to be able to see us at home with out all the tubes and wires and in a much more relaxing environment. They live in Minnesota, so Josh and I were so happy that they were able to see him and get some time with their new grandson.

three weeks old-awake and asleep
Rowan is doing great. He is continuing to grow and is feeding better every day. He is a super easy baby so far, sleeping a lot and is generally really chill. He really only cries if his diaper needs to be changed and the rest of the time is just content to be held or lay in his cradle. I know it will change, but we are thanking the Lord for this as I continue to hurt and heal.
