Real Haircut

I have been cutting Rowan's hair since he was 3 months old. But yesterday was his first time going with Josh to get a real haircut from a professional, clippers and all. He did great! I was so proud of him because it could have been a nightmare, but he happily sat there and let the lady cut away. He was also pleased to get a slurpee as a reward. He is kind of impossible to take pictures of these days because he literally won't sit still long enough for me to focus the camera. So these were the best I got.

He looks so Hayden in the picture it is kind of crazy to me.
pretending to be a pirate with the lens cap, "ARRRRR"
A rare moment of being nice to his little brother and actually coming over to play with him. I shouldn't say "rare" but a little less common than I hope it will be.

Cute Jammies

These jammies are just too cute not to share. And Eli is pretty cute too :) Eli had his 6 month appointment on Monday. He weighed in at 17 lbs and 27 inches.

6 month review

Eli's half birthday

I have no idea how 6 months have gone by. Truly, I feel like I have blinked and here we are. I take Eli for his checkup on Monday so I will have to report back with his stats, but one thing is for sure, he is getting big! He can sit up by himself now (with a little support), he is ridiculously happy most all of the time and is such a cute little guy.

His new trick. He has recently discovered he can smack his lips and make a sound and thinks it is the best thing in the world.

Art and Vulnerability

For me art is incredibly personal and vulnerable. It has taken me years, literally, to display any of my own art in my home. And even now it is only allowed upstairs. So it was completely uncharacteristic of me to take on a commissioned piece. Because if I am honest about it, I just can't imagine any one paying me for my stuff. But some sweet friend of a friend took pity on me and asked for a painting. So here you go...the quote was chosen by the recipient and the peacock was my idea because...why not. The lighting is terrible, but you get the idea.

Eli over the last month

Learning to sit up.

He loves the exersaucer
This is the face he gives me right before he rolls over, as if to say, "you can't keep me on my tummy".

I love to eat!

Eli is such a nice baby. He is so happy and generally in a good mood. He really only fusses when he is tired. We started Eli on food this month and boy does he love to eat. Such a difference from Rowan as a baby. Rowan was a challenge to feed (still is). Eli happily leans forward and opens his mouth. He is also learning to sit up, although still needs some support so he doesn't topple over. I can't believe he is going to be 6 months soon.

Rowan in December

Rowan's talking has taken off. He learns several new words every day and is stringing more and more words together to make sentences. He loves pretend play now and I have totally enjoyed listening to him create little worlds for his toys.

Getting ready for "work". He got a suit and tie for Christmas from Teri and insisted on wearing it with his hard hat to go to work.

Christmas morning

We had a quiet, calm Christmas morning. This is Rowan's first year believing in Santa (who he calls "Fan-fa" who's sled is pulled by the "rein-dings") and is was really fun watching him enjoy the magic of it all.

presents wrapped in special santa paper.

Helping Eli open his presents.

This picture makes me laugh so hard because Eli wants that recorder so bad and just can't figure out how to get it in his mouth.
homemade apple cider doughnuts. yum.
Reindeer cookies for Santa.
